In Irvington, Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow — Tax Cap Tightens the Screws In June, the New York State Legislature passed — and with much fanfare Governor Cuomo signed into law — a  state-wide tax cap of 2%. This means that local villages and municipalities, as well as local school districts, cannot raise their tax levy (the amount of revenue raised through property taxes) to more than 2% above its current level.

Sleepy Hollow Board Not in Favor of $$$ Support for Warner Library During a recent Library Board of Trustees meeting, Ken Wray, Sleepy Hollow’s library liaison and Mayor, informed those in attendance that a majority of his Village Board did not want to financially support Tarrytown’s Warner Library after the expiration of the current contract between Sleepy Hollow and Tarrytown. That 5-year contract is set to expire on May 31, 2014.
